Welcome to Markest (the "Service"), a multi-document markdown pastebin operated by Techster Dynamics ("we," "us," or "our"), a trading name of Techster Ltd (Company No. 17005321). By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using the Service, you confirm that:
- You are at least 18 years of age or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction
- You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
- You agree to comply with these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations
If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
Markest is a web-based platform that allows users to:
- Create, edit, and share multi-document markdown pastes
- Organise markdown files into collections with sidebar navigation
- Share pastes publicly, as unlisted links, or keep them private
- Render markdown with support for tables, Mermaid diagrams, task lists, and internal cross-document linking
- Download paste content as ZIP archives
- Access paste content via a RESTful API
The Service is provided free of charge and may be subject to usage limits at our discretion.
3. Account Registration and Security
3.1 Account Creation
To create and manage pastes, you must register an account. You may register using:
- An email address and password
- Google OAuth sign-in
You agree to provide accurate and complete registration information and to keep your credentials confidential.
3.2 Account Security
You are responsible for:
- All activities that occur under your account
- Maintaining the security of your login credentials
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorised access
3.3 Account Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behaviour, or use the Service for prohibited purposes. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
4. User Content
4.1 Ownership
You retain ownership of all content you upload to the Service ("User Content"). By uploading content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, compress, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service.
4.2 Content Responsibility
You are solely responsible for any content you create, upload, or share through the Service. You represent and warrant that:
- You have the right to upload and share such content
- Your content does not infringe on any third-party intellectual property rights
- Your content does not violate any applicable laws or regulations
4.3 Content Storage
- Markdown content is stored in compressed (gzipped) format
- Individual documents are limited to 128KB per file
- Each paste is limited to 50 documents and 512KB total content
- Content may be subject to automatic expiry if configured by the user
5. Acceptable Use Policy
5.1 Permitted Uses
You may use the Service for:
- Sharing technical documentation, notes, and guides
- Collaborative knowledge sharing
- Publishing markdown-formatted content
- Personal note-taking and document organisation
5.2 Prohibited Uses
You agree NOT to use the Service to:
- Upload, store, or share illegal, defamatory, or harmful content
- Distribute malware, viruses, or malicious code
- Engage in phishing, fraud, or impersonation
- Violate intellectual property rights of others
- Send spam or use the Service for unsolicited bulk distribution
- Attempt to circumvent security measures or access controls
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the Service's source code
- Overload, disrupt, or interfere with the Service infrastructure
- Store or transmit sensitive personal data (e.g., passwords, financial details, health records) in paste content
- Use the Service for any purpose that violates applicable laws or regulations
5.3 Content Moderation
We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or that we deem harmful, abusive, or inappropriate, without prior notice.
6. Intellectual Property
6.1 Our Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, code, branding, logos, and documentation, is the property of Techster Ltd and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our prior written consent.
6.2 Open Source Components
Certain components of the Service may be released under open source licences. Such components are governed by their respective licence terms.
7. Third-Party Services
7.1 Google Authentication
If you choose to sign in with Google, you authorise us to access your Google profile information (email address and display name) for authentication purposes. Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy apply to your use of Google services.
7.2 Third-Party Libraries
The Service uses third-party libraries for markdown rendering, diagram generation, and other functionality. We are not responsible for the behaviour or availability of these third-party components.
8. Availability and Modifications
8.1 Service Availability
We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to:
- Scheduled maintenance
- System updates or upgrades
- Unexpected technical issues
- Infrastructure failures
8.2 Modifications
We reserve the right to:
- Modify, update, or discontinue features of the Service
- Impose or change usage limits
- Update these Terms with notice
Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
9. Data Handling and Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data. By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree to our data practices as described in the Privacy Policy.

We do not guarantee that:

- The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, or error-free
- Content will be preserved indefinitely
- Rendered markdown will display identically across all browsers or devices
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- TECHSTER LTD SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE
- OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU (IF ANY) IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM
- WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, CONTENT, OR ACCESS RESULTING FROM SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS, ACCOUNT TERMINATION, OR TECHNICAL FAILURES
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Techster Ltd and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Content you upload, create, or share through the Service
13. Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
13.2 Dispute Process
Before filing a formal claim, you agree to attempt resolution by contacting us directly. We will work in good faith to resolve any disputes within 30 days.
13.3 Jurisdiction
Any legal proceedings shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
14. General Provisions
14.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Techster Ltd regarding the Service.
14.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
14.3 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
14.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms. We may assign our rights without restriction.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes:

- The "Last Updated" date will be revised
